BUILD, NOT BURN

One of the very vital lessons I have learnt from my Father is about keeping friendships.

He would always say "there isn't any state in Nigeria I will go to and not find someone to receive me".

And lots of times, we have benefited from that network of friends he has built and sustained all through the years.

It may be easy to make friends, building and sustaining it is where the work is.

Friendships are like bridges, to take you from where you are to where you want to be.
Build them.

Even if you can't build a relationship with everyone you meet, create a connection that you can fall back on.

You might not be the only one that will use them. People around you may reap off its fruits someday.

Build bridges, don't burn them.
Create connections, don't break them.

WOULD YOU WATCH IT GO BAD?

_______________________________

I heard this story at TEDx.

A girl went to a Traditional doctor, as it was the custom of her people.

She requested that he enquire of the gods and know if she will have a bright future.

The traditional doctor told her of the procedure he always used to determine that.

He drew white and black circles, white meant a successful future and black meant a bad future.

He then placed a milipede somewhere between the two circles. He then told the girl, that whichever circle the milipede stopped would determine her future.

The milipede first crawled towards the white circle, the girl was apparently joyous.

Then suddenly, it turned and started going towards the black circle.

Just at the moment it entered the circle, the girl picked it up, went straight to the white circle and dropped it in the middle of it.

The traditional doctor was shocked, he asked the girl "Why" and she said "I can't stand and watch my future go bad"

You can pick out your lessons from the story.

I'd only tell you. Your future is in your hands, to make good or to let it go bad.

No one would do it for you.

Present circumstances around you may be pointing you towards the black circle.
What are you doing about them?

Stand and watch circumstances determine your future?

Or

Pick it up and determine how you want it to turn out

The choice is yours to make.
